Hello everyone! Hope you’re doing well! Today I’m going to share my first MLH local hack day experience. let me tell you what is LHD.
What is LHD: share?
Local Hack Day: Share is a week-long celebration of sharing everything you’ve learned as a hacker. If you’ve been hacking with us all year, we’re excited to have you back. If this is your very first event, we’ve got a ton of beginner-friendly challenges for you to complete that’ll have you shipping your hack like a pro in no time. You’ll have your pick of technical, design, and social challenges to complete each with an emphasis on sharing your work. The more challenges you conquer, the more points you’ll earn.
What we do
In LHD we’ll spend all the week completing the technical, design, and social challenges to earn points. There are challenges for every skill level from beginner-friendly to hackathon experts. We’ll have a set of Week-Long Challenges which we need to complete, but we’ll also have special Daily and Weekend Challenges that we need to complete before they’re gone.
My Experience
Although it was my first LHD I have enjoyed it a lot by completing daily & weekly challenges. It is very special to connecting with guild members and expanding our network. The best thing so far was the community call held by the guild leader in which we shared our experiences, everything we learned. The guild members are very helpful every time.
If I talk about the challenges we were given was quite exiting and even a few are challenging. But as MLH had also organized many hands-on sessions and workshops for us to learn about the technologies and get your hand dirty with the same.
It was really fun we build lots of projects, played lots of game like among us together and also did a few in guild events. Things I have done in this LHD were quite funny and interesting. I have learned a lot from my first Local Hack Day. To be honest I wasn’t expected that I will learn these many distinct things in a week.
Finally, after the week the event comes to an end, it was a quite disappointing thing but the good thing was our guild took 2nd in the event and I ended up with 69th among all other hackers.
It was an amazing experience at a local hack day event. It would be the best event so far for me. I would like to thank MLH for hosting these amazing events and everyone in the guild EddieHub
